Psychologists Reacts to Therapist in Never Have I Ever

For this assignment, I chose a video titled “Psychologist Reacts to Therapist In Never Have I Ever” because it was something that stood out to me as a piece of content that was educational while still keeping me engaged (despite its length). The video consists of Dr. Marie Fang, a psychologist, reacting to therapy scenes from a tv show called “Never Have I Ever.”

I think the format of reacting to a TV show that is culturally relevant and “debunking” the way that it represents a certain process, in this case therapy, is smart because it allows you to intertwine your expertise in dense subjects with the lightness of a comedy TV show. It capitalizes on the viewer’s curiosity to learn if what they watched was reflective of reality.

What makes it a piece of content that stands out is its educational impact. Watching this video can not only help set your expectations going into therapy, but can also help you by providing strategies that can be used in your personal life and when helping friends and family. Her advice about working with the content that is coming up in the moment has actually influenced the way I approach similar conversations!

All and all, it is entertaining  and informative while demystifying therapy, all of which make this video worth a watch.
